The run of the Francigena Way, in the Province in Turin, develops for a line of around 40 Km, from the border with the Region Valley of Aosta to the border with the Province of Biella crossing the territory of the Communes of: Carema, Settimo Vittone, Borgofranco of Ivrea, Montalto Dora, Ivrea, Cascinette of Ivrea, Burolo, Bollengo, Palazzo Canavese and Piverone. This run, that respects the principal itinerary, completed by the archbishop Sigerico in the 990 dc. in his trip back from Rome to Canterbury and officially recognized by the Council of Europe, has been traced and mapped by ", in full accord with the Administrations of the Town interested, which have contributed with suggestions and indications to the layout of the run. The “ Francigena Association of Sigerico Way " has also extended the intervention to the three Communes of the Province of Biella with their full accord: Viverone, Roppolo and Cavaglià, up to the border of Vercelli. The association has besides collaborated and collaborates with the Communes of the Valley of Aosta Region for the final line of the itinerary coming from the Great St. Bernard Pass and that ends up with the Commune of Pont Saint Martin settled with our Association. The typology of the run has been studied for answering to the demands of people that proceed by foot, by bicycle or by horse; roads without traffic, cart roads and paths are been selected for this aim. For the cases in which has been essential to cross for brief lines the trafficked asphalted roads we have anticipated and demanded to the local Administrations interventions of putting in safety. The itinerary has kept in mind besides of all the most important present historical-cultural monuments on the run, as well as of the more meaningful naturalistic and environmental aspects. They are in progress studies and searches finalized to the exploitation of some meaningful variations to the principal run motivated by the presence of important monuments of cultural historical interest as well as of meaningful landscape aspects and of particular naturalistic situations in proximity of the principal run but not touched by the same.
